B1G Angeles is the singles ministry of CCF Angeles (Christ's Commission Fellowship), and our seven values spell SINGLES. It's a handy acronym for a church group of single adults, and it makes the list easy to remember. Each value shows up in something we do, at events and in an ordinary week.
Servitude. For us, this means serving others the way Jesus did. He said he came to serve, and to give his life for many (Mark 10:45). Volunteers run every B1G event. The Food team plans, prepares and serves the meals and snacks, and Exalt, our worship team, leads the singing.
Intentionality in mission. Jesus sent his followers out to make disciples, people who follow him and learn from him (Matthew 28:19-20). Being intentional means we plan for it. In practice, it can be as simple as inviting one officemate to the next event, and praying for them before you ask.
Nurture volunteers. The people who serve need care too, so B1G has a Volunteer Care team in its Care and Support cluster. Paul, one of the first Christian leaders, trained a younger leader named Timothy and told him to pass on what he'd learned to people who could teach others (2 Timothy 2:2). We want the same here, with people who've served longer helping newer volunteers grow.
Growth by the Spirit. Christians believe real change in a person is God's work, done by the Holy Spirit, God's own Spirit living in everyone who trusts Jesus. Our part is to keep in step with him (Galatians 5:25). That's a big reason we point people to DGroups. A DGroup, short for discipleship group, is a small group that meets regularly to study the Bible and share life.
Longevity in serving. We hope people keep serving for years, and this verse says why it's worth it.
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
Galatians 6:9 (ESV)
Longevity is also why we ask volunteers to commit to their team. Staying with one team lets you grow in your role, and it lets the people beside you count on you.
Engage the marketplace. In church language, the marketplace means the places where you work. For a young professional, that's where a big part of the week goes, so it's also where other people see your faith.
In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
Matthew 5:16 (ESV)
It can look like doing honest work when nobody's checking, or treating the newest person at the office with respect.
Set apart. In the Bible, holy means set apart for God. Peter, one of Jesus' first followers, writes that God's people are called to be holy in everything they do (1 Peter 1:15-16). For singles, that shows up in ordinary choices, like how you date and how you handle money. It starts with belonging to God, and the choices follow from that.
Serve with us
If these values describe the person you want to become, you can find a team that fits you. B1G has six clusters of volunteer teams: Programs, Admin, Marketing, Logistics, Care and Support, and the Facilitators, who guide people through breakout groups (the small discussion circles at our events).
To join a team, you need to be part of a DGroup, have finished GLC 1 (the first course of CCF's Global Leadership Center), commit to your team, and have a heart to serve. Sign up on the Serve page. If you're not in a DGroup yet, start on the Small Groups page, and the CCF Angeles DGroup team will help connect you with one.
